Pro Search in the Community

This really is a great place to live, work and give back!

At Pro Search, we’re very proud of where we live and work and we are dedicated to supporting our community.  As Maine’s largest and most respected recruiting and staffing firm, we also know we have a responsibility to give back.  Since 1994, each Pro Search employee has been encouraged to take time for volunteer activities and to support our community.  We also serve on boards and committees of organizations when we feel we can provide value through our direct involvement.

We are very aware that our ability to give back to our community is only possible through the hard work of our temporary and contract employees AND our partnership with our many loyal clients.

With this in mind, in 2008 we created the Pro Search Client Give Back Program, donating 5 cents for every hour our temporary and contract employees work to community organizations in Southern Maine.  Each quarter, we make that donation on behalf of our client companies.

Since 2008, we have contributed over $10,000 each year to Maine based charities and non-profits.  Below is a list of the great organizations we have supported through this program:

Wayside Soup Kitchen, Share our Strength, Volunteers of America, Easter Seals, March of Dimes, Project Grace, Goodwill of Northern New England, National Kidney Foundation and United Way of Greater Portland

To learn more, or if you are a Maine based non-profit that would like to be considered for this program, please contact Ed McKersie at emckersie@psicareers.com or at 207-775-7600.

Below is additional information about our direct involvement:

Ed McKersie, President and Founder of Pro Search, is active in the human resources community, having served on the Board of the Human Resources Association of Southern Maine and on the SHRM Maine State Council.  He also established the Planning Committee for the Best Places to Work in Maine project, a program designed to recognize Maine companies that have established and consistently fostered outstanding workplace environments.

Ed is Past Chair of USM Corporate Partners, made up of over 350 business people, from more than 150 companies, who believe that a responsive public university plays a key role in building and sustaining a vibrant community. The USM Corporate Partners was formed in 1989 to develop and support "partnerships" between the business sector and the University of Southern Maine.

Ed serves on the University of Southern Maine Foundation Board.

Ed is the Board Chair of the Maine Center for Enterprise Development. The Maine Center for Enterprise Development provides an environment for the creation and growth of quality companies through incubation. The program's resources are focused on finding, helping, and encouraging incubator companies to grow into quality companies while wisely investing community resources. Focusing the program's resources on a select set of candidates who have what’s necessary to be successful is the guiding principle of the MCED Incubator Program.

Andrea Brown, Director, Accounting/Finance Recruiting for Pro Search serves on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of Northern New England.

Rhiana Lippold and Mary Warren, our Senior Recruiter, are on the Board and the Planning Committee of PROPEL , a young member group associated with the Portland Chamber of Commerce that holds events to bring the young professionals in Portland together for networking and professional growth.

Mary also serves on the Board of Directors of March of Dimes here in Maine.  Each year, Pro Search has a team in the WalkAmerica challenge and we sponsor a table at the Chef's Auction in the Fall.

Sarah Davies, Senior IT Recruiter for Pro Search, sits on the Board for Volunteers of America Northern New England. VOANNE is a national, nonprofit, spiritually-based organization providing local human service programs and opportunities for individual and community involvement. VOA sees the potential in every person and design and operate programs that address today's most pressing social needs. In Northern New England, their focus includes providing affordable low-income housing for seniors and a variety of services for youth, adults and families.

Dave Vasconcelos is an active member of the Business Advisory Council at Goodwill of Northern New England.
